Nevada offers an annual tax exemption to any veteran who has been a resident of Nevada for over 6 months and who has wartime service (this includes service in theater during the Persian Gulf War). To obtain the exemption, take a copy of your DD-214 or discharge papers (which contain your dates of service) to your local county assessor. This is a personal property tax exemption. For fiscal year 2002-2003 the amount is $1500. For fiscal year 2002-2003 the amount is $1500. For fiscal year 2003-2204, it is $1750; and beginning July 1, 2004, it is $2000.

Annual state grants to a maximum of $3,100 are available for qualified veterans who need financial assistance to complete approved programs of postsecondary education.
Full range of employment services to assist veterans in their search for work. Specially trained veteran representatives help veterans match their job skills to employer job openings, contact employers on behalf of the veteran for consideration in hiring, provide referral to skill training and other government and community programs.
Honorably discharged veterans receiving a PASSING score on a state Civil Service examination are given an additional 10 points. This is for an initial appointment only.

Pennsylvania provides financial aid in an emergency and temporary basis (not to exceed three months in a 12-month period) to veterans, their widows, infant children or dependents who reside in Pennsylvania for the necessities of life.
