Friends Choose your friends, acquaintances, and associates very carefully. They can have a huge impact on your success. There are two kinds of people. The first group strives to reach a higher level. They set goals and actively work towards achieving them. They take extra classes to further their education, start or running a business, or participate in community projects. They have a positive outlook on life and things in general. Try and associate with as much as possible. There is a momentum surrounding them and being in close proximity to them will help propel you towards your own goals. The second type of people is treading water. If they are working at all, it will at dead end jobs barely getting by week to week. If they set goals, they don't put much effort into achieving them. They will complain and have excuses as to why things aren't going better for them. One thing is certain; they never blame their selves. Usually they consume alcohol/drugs on a daily basis. There is a stagnant air about them and they are extremely dangerous to your success. Dangerous because they will assimilate you into their fold much, much easier than the first group and their habits will easily rub off. Chapter 4 |
